Activation Of Landmark Water Treatment Plant "Went Way Better Than Expected"

The brand new water treatment plant in Landmark was activated exactly a week ago and went so smoothly almost nobody noticed the transition.

“It went way better than expected,” muses Taché Chief Administrative Officer Christine Hutlet. “It was very exciting to get that final notification that they had turned the last valve and everything was working beautifully.”

Initially, public works crews were prepared to slowly introduce the new system to the old one and gradually test its capacity. That, Hutlet notes, was not necessary.

Water distribution in Janvier halted after chemical incident at treatment plant

The municipality has asked Janvier residents to stop using water after an incident involving chemicals at the hamlet’s water treatment plant.

What those chemicals were, the volume involved or what the incident was has yet to be confirmed by the municipality.

What has been confirmed is that the incident took place at approximately 10 a.m. this morning. As a precaution, the municipality stopped all water distribution from the plant.

Disinfecting of Opa’s new water treatment plant begins

Beaver First Nation celebrates new water treatment plant and housing

The water project received $14.2 million in funding from the government of Canada and included construction of the water treatment plant, a raw water intake, treated water reservoir and a distribution main to the Beaver First Nation Boyer River area.

Six new housing units were also built to accommodate large families in response to the First Nation’s rising population. The government of Canada put $1.8 million towards support of the project, which included multi-unit accommodations and a new unit which addresses the needs of a disabled youth.

NEW Water launches a campaign to help protect sewage pipes and the environment

We have definitely seen an uptick in what we call the un-flushables coming to our facility. We like people to not use their toilet as a trash can and only flush the three Ps: number 1, number 2 and toilet paper, said Public Affairs & Education Manager Tricia Garrison.

Garrison said this is a problem that many water treatment facilities around the country have been dealing with, but unfortunately in the Green Bay area its gotten worse.

The temporary modular water treatment solution was designed by Siltbuster’s team of technical engineers and deployed in two weeks.

Equipped with inlet monitoring telemetry and monitoring systems, Siltbuster’s system included three containerised dosing units, three 303 multistage reaction tanks, 18 HB50 Clarifiers and a 303 sludge storage tank with related pipework.
